Abstract: 

Several full porcelain systems are available in the market, among which In - Ceram (Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackingen, Germany), has been introduced to show unique properties including: fine esthetic and high quality strength. In this investigation Flexural Strength of In - Ceram core material has been evaluated by four - point bending test with Instron (Model 1195) machine. Samples were provided in form of ten bars of core material with the dimension of 30 × 6 × 2.5 mm.Results obtained show that the mean value of 538 ± 42 (MPa), of force is required to hit its resistance limit which is higher than similar values in other dental ceramics, within acceptable clinical range.

Abstract: 

Background and Aim: ZOE has been used in different fields of dentistry for many years. A locally produced component (Zoliran) has been recently introduced to the marketwith similar characteristic to the original Zonalin. Because of a lower cost involved to use Zoliran cement and its availability, confirm reliability of its physical properties. This investigation was designed to assess the Compressive strength of Zoliran cement in comparison to Zonalin cement as the standard material. Materials and Methods: Five samples with dimension of 4mmx6mm of each cement were provided and stored in distilled water in 370C±10C for a period of 24 hours. The lowest load of force was registered as the reference to which the sample could be broken by(according to the criteria No: 30 of ANSIIADA). The value of compressive strength was then calculated using the following formula (K =4F/πD2 ). Results: The mean compressive strength of five samples was measuredas: 14.33 Mpa for Zoliran cement and 31.83 Mpa for Zonalin cement. The mean compressive strength of Zonalincement was significantly higher than the mean suggested in ANSl/ADA Specification No.30. The mean compressivestrength of Zoliran cement was also lower than the mean value registered in ANSI/ADA SpecificationNo.30. Conclusion: Compressive strength of Zoliran cement was significantlylower than that of Zonalin cement. Further tests are required to compare the other physical properties of this material before it can be clinically recommended.

Abstract: 

Concrete is currently the most widely used construction material in the world. However, its mechanical properties when suffering damages have not been fully understood which may be the reason that no generally accepted nonlinear theory had been available for the analysis and design of concrete structures. In fact, the complexity of concrete material originated from two essential characteristics, that is, nonlinearity and randomness. In the past 25 years, there have been significant developments in the production and use of high strength concrete HSC. During this period, experimental research related to the behavior of high strength concrete members has increased significantly. However, with the availability of data on higher-strength concretes, the applicability of the code equations need to be reevaluated and the extrapolation of equation from lower strength to high-strength concretes needs more experimental verification. The experimental data on HSC columns still remains limited and the applicability of code equations to members mad of HSC needs more experimental verification. The ductility of reinforced concrete columns is an important factor for the strength and stability of reinforced concrete structures. The ductility of columns can be achieved by the confinement of the core concrete. Recently, concrete strengths much higher than 60 MPa have been used in the construction industry. However, the behavior of high strength concrete columns is not adequately known, yet. As a result, the design provisions of current building codes related to strength and ductility of high strength concrete columns cannot be not satisfactory. This paper presents the results of a research project in which the available test data on high strength concrete columns have been evaluated in terms of strength, ductility, and drift ratios. The relationships between confinement parameters and column performance are illustrated. A number of different formulas have been proposed for predicting the strength and ductility of high-strength concrete columns by various researchers. In the present study, models and experimental results collected from the literature are evaluated. The investigations show that the uncertainties of effective factors on strength and ductility of such columns must be considered. A probabilistic analysis is needed to evaluate the uncertainty in the design process. In this paper, the mechanical properties of steel and concrete are supposed that to be uncertain and have normal and lognormal distributions with different coefficient of variations, changing from 10% to 25%. The Monte Carlo method is used to generate random variables. The strength and ductility parameters for generated variables are calculated and compared with the experimental data. By using the results, the reliability and the safety level of the formulas are determined. It is shown that the proposed model by the authors has a very good agreement with experimental results with minimum errors and sufficient reliability as well.

Abstract: 

Strength measurement of rock requires testing that must be carried out on test specimens with particular sizes in order to fulfill testing standards or suggested methods. Often, the coring process breaks up the weaker core pieces, and they are too small to be used in either index tests or conventional strength tests such as point load index (Is) and Brazilian tensile strength (BTS). One of the index tests to indirectly determine the rock strength is the block punch index (BPI) test, which requires flat disc specimens without special treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the applicability of the BPI test for predicting the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), BTS and IS of the sandstones by empirical equations. Also, we have compared the performance of the BPI and IS for predicting the UCS and BTS. It was experimentally shown that BPI is a reliable method for predicting the UCS, BTS and Is of the sandstones under study. Moreover, the results indicate that BPI could be utilized with same importance as Is for predicting the UCS, while predicting the BTS by Is appears to be more reliable than BPI.

Abstract: 

Sluggish Cognitive Tempo is used to describe a particular type of attention deficit, concentration, and slowness in information processing. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale (SCTS) of the parent form among Iranian children. The present study is a descriptive study. A sample of 1700 people was selected from the provinces of Tehran, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Fars and Khorasan using cluster sampling method. 122 subjects were excluded from statistical analysis due to incomplete answers to the questionnaires and thus the final sample was reduced to 1578 parents. The confirmatory factor analysis method and internal consistency were used to compute the Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale factorial validity and reliability, respectively. Also, in order to examine the construct validity of the Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale, we computed correlations between different dimensions of Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale with Attention Deficit Subscale of Mental Health Assessment Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents. The results of statistical results showed that this scale has structural validity, criterion and convergence in Iranian society. The results indicate that the scale is three factors and also the validity of the scale using Cronbach's alpha method and retest test after Approved two weeks. According to the findings of the present study, the parent form of the Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale (SCTS) has a good validity and reliability and it can be used in research related to slow cognitive multiplication in Iranian society.

Abstract: 

In this research, rocks were selected from different mines to evaluate the engineering properties of aggregates in concrete and then used for making concrete. At first, the physical and mechanical properties of the selected aggregates are determined in the laboratory, and then the aggregates are subdivided into sand-sized aggregates and some aggregate properties such as shape, porosity, impact value, compressive value and aggregation are determined. Then, using a fixed mixing scheme, the aggregates were prepared from concrete and the mechanical properties of the prepared concrete such as compressive strength, tensile strength and elastic modulus were determined after 7, 28 and 90 days. The effect of each of the aggregate properties on the concrete strength is investigated. This percentage is a useful guide for identifying the desired aggregates as well as the tests required to explore the aggregate resources. The results show that the resistance properties, abrasion, specific gravity and porosity, shape and texture, durability and stability of aggregates have the most effect on concrete strength, respectively.

Abstract: 

One of the factors that can be the link between our intentions and actions and their external consequences is human agency, which indicates the conscious design and intentional execution of actions by the individual in order to influence future events.Objective and Method: This research with a developmental approach of psychometric method and method 1, examines the psychometric indices of the Human Factor Characteristics Scale using the classical theory of test score measurement and the graduated question-answer theory. The purpose of this study, which included high school students in Tehran, was selected by cluster sampling of 500 people as a sample size and statistical analysis was performed on 481 data. To collect the data, the ion Human Agent Characteristics Scale (2011) was used and the research questions were evaluated using IRTPRO and SPSS software.Results:The assumption of local independence based on Pearson x2 index was established by applying Simjima's calibrated question-answer theory and the assumption of being one-dimensional based on the analysis of multidimensional question-answer theory. Diagnosis parameters with question-answer approach and classical approach Test score Both item 25 approach had the lowest and item 2 had the highest diagnosis parameter. The answer thresholds for all the questions were so far apart that no option was covered by the other option, and the options were independently selected by individuals at intervals of theta. The total scale was calculated with Cronbach's alpha of 0.945, intentionality of 0.894, foresight of 0.780, self-reactivity of 0.871 and rethinking of 0.762. Also, the role of each item in internal consistency was investigated by the loop method, which all questions had a favorable role in internal consistency of this scale. The value of the validity coefficient obtained from the question-answer theory was obtained by marginal method for intentionality 0.92, forethought 0.85, self-reaction 0.91, rethinking 0.83..

Abstract: 

One of the important issues in the production of concrete is environmental variability that affects the concrete and elements constructed from this material. Due to the importance of different characteristics of concrete in short- and long-term conditions, this article aims to investigate the influence of initial temperature conditions of self-compacting concrete on its long-term characteristics and determine the initial optimal temperature of concrete. For these purposes, several experiments under three temperature conditions of 5, 20, and 40 degree-of-Celsius were conducted to evaluate the rheology and mechanical properties of fresh concrete in the range of 7 and 28 days. In these experiments, alternative mineral admixtures of cement such as micro-silica, fly ash, and zeolite were used to build the concrete specimens. Results demonstrate that the mechanical properties of the specimens increase with increasing initial temperature in the short term, while such properties significantly decrease in the long term compared to the specimens constructed under lower initial temperature. Moreover, the fluidity of self-compacting concrete increases with increasing initial temperature.

Abstract: 

AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate the validity, reliability and factor structure of the "How I Think" questionnaire to assess cognitive distortions in Iranian students. The present research design is descriptive and psychometric studies. The statistical population of this study included all male high school students in city Dezful in the academic year 1399-1400, from which 316 students were selected by multi-stage random sampling and completed the How I think and Bass and Perry Aggression Questionnaires (for Convergent validity). Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data using SPSS and AMOS 20 software. The results of factor analysis showed that the questionnaire consists of six factors and has good fit indices. The convergent validity of this questionnaire indicated a satisfactory correlation between the dimensions of the scale "How I think" with the Aggression Questionnaire (p <0.01). Cronbach's alpha and Split- half coefficients for the whole scale and its dimensions ranged from 0.66 to 0.92.The conclusion is that the Persian version of the "How do I think" questionnaire for measuring cognitive distortions in Iranian students has acceptable psychometric properties and can be used as a valid tool in research, educational and clinical situations.
